Abstract
Coronary Heart Disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The morbidity, mortality, and costs involved with CHD are a significant burden on healthcare systems. The complexity of the disease necessitates a multi-faceted approach to treating those suffering from it. As an emerging healthcare field, personalized health coaching is poised to be a highly effective care method for those suffering from the disease. In this thesis, a review of the literature is conducted, covering three meta-analyses that aim to answer the question of whether health coaching is an effective method of managing CHD. Each article in the review focuses on a different aspect of health coaching and its effectiveness in treating coronary heart disease and its parent, cardiovascular disease. A comprehensive review of these meta-analyses determined that personalized health coaching is an effective method for treating coronary heart disease. However, there are certain various directions that should be explored in future research.
