Theater Strategic management Education--Finance Art--Study and teaching Art--Management Nonprofit Organizations
This thesis documents how a non-profit theater effectively develops and implements arts programming with the public school system from development through implementation as a model for other theaters, as well as a means for Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) to demonstrate impact. Through a series of interviews and focus groups, as well as information documented in annual reports, grant proposals, and organizational websites, this case study looks in depth at the partnership between PTC's education program, Drama Contact, and the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). With information from participating partners, the thesis outlines how the partnership is defined, why and how the partnership developed, and the strengths and weaknesses which contribute to or hinder the success and sustainability of the partnership. Recommendations drawn from those interviewed concluded that while the partnership has progressed successfully, it is ever evolving and requires the commitment of all partners to ensure its continued growth and sustainability.
