Abstract

Dance/movement therapy intervention applications Dance/movement therapy application development Dance/movement therapy applications
This culminating project is an Informed Practice Approach and Application (IPAA), grounded in extant theory and literature and the author's facilitation of a community discussion and experiential movement structures with the Drexel University DMT-C students and faculty. It explores considerations for the design and development of a dance/movement therapy (DMT) intervention app found within the existing literature and evoked during community collaboration with the Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling (DMT-C) program students and faculty. The literature included considerations for intervention app development across the fields of DMT, dance/movement, creative arts therapies (CATs), and mental health. These considerations were explored through experiential movement structures and discussion collaborations with the Drexel DMT-C community. The literature considerations and community collaborations were synthesized into a publicly accessible digital guidebook for developing DMT intervention apps to inform future creative processes related to DMT app development. The project illuminates the need for more research and evidence-based knowledge on the topic of DMT intervention app development and provides suggestions for future applications.
