This study tested the attitudes, beliefs and ideas of healthcare professionals regarding the necessity of establishing a trauma foundation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It addressed the apparent lack of existence of such a foundation designed to respond to major trauma predicaments challenging the country. To accomplish the objectives of this study, this exploration surveyed all relevant literature and designed a survey to test the attitudes on the need for a foundation as well as a number of hypothesized relationships. The sample tested included 116 Saudi and non Saudi healthcare professionals in hospitals and the Ministry of Health: 60 physicians, 36 nurses, 16 administrators and 4 participants who did not respond. The conclusions drawn from this research project showed an overwhelming percentage of professionals expressed the need for the development of a trauma foundation to oversee trauma care in the country.
