A coodinated order-up-to inventory control policy for a single supplier and multiple buyers using electronic data interchange

Abstract
Electronic data interchange (EDI) technology can help significantly reduce inventory and inventory costs and lessen the time lag in communication and shipment. EDI is particularly important in implementing inventory control models requiring a close coordination between vendors and multiple buyers and which involves a single product, stochastic demands and lead times. Compared with conventional approaches where optimization is performed by the parties concerned separately, this model is economically more advantageous.
