Abstract
The position of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) on the confidentiality of medical information in the workplace is discussed. The law governing the confidentiality of employee medical information is complex and requires careful consideration to issues of paternalism, autonomy, dignity and consent.
