Abstract
The acoustic impulse responses of a family of nonuniform lossless one-dimensional media are determined. The nonuniform portions of the media are confined to layers of either finite or infinite thicknesses. The acoustic impedances of the nonuniform layers as functions of travel time are assumed known. The impulse responses are determined by evaluating the Fourier transforms of their reflection coefficients using infinite series expansions and contour integrations.
