Amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation: a case report

Abstract
Cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related inflammation (CAARI) represents a rare, more aggressive, yet clinically and radiologically distinct manifestation of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Here, the authors describe a case of a patient in their 80s with dementia who presented with a loss of consciousness event likely related to a seizure. The MRI of the brain showed amyloid angiopathy with surrounding inflammation. This case illuminates CAARI as a distinct pathology, how to approach it as a differential diagnosis, and crucially, how to treat it.
