Abstract
As power plants become more complex and the use of modular designs with multiple parallel paths increase, it is desirable to be able to model the interconnecting piping such that the cross-header flows during unbalanced, transient operation can be predicted. This paper employs an energy approach in solving a feedwater piping system resulting in a representation of important inertial effects. The equations for an H pattern feedwater system are derived and the results of a simulation for a system composed of two parallel feedpumps and two parallel once-thru steam generators are presented.
