01 Jan 2023
Abstract
Vocal fold masses are common, and singing teachers should be familiar with their nature and implications. This article reviews common abnormalities that occur on the vocal folds including nodules, cysts, polyps, scar, vascular abnormalities, granulomas and other pathology. Each requires different management. Guidance is given so that singing teachers understand the nature of different vocal fold masses and basic treatment guidelines. This will help them advise their students as to whether treatment recommendations seem reasonable.
