Anorexics aren't Neurotic

Abstract
Reviews the book, Solving the Anorexia Puzzle: A Scientific Approach by W. Frank Epling and W. David Pierce (see record 1991-97571-000). This book is an account of our research and theory concerning activity anorexia. The authors argue cogently that activity anorexia is a physiologically mediated outcome likely to affect anyone who is simultaneously subjected to marked reductions in food intake and large increases in energy expenditure. The authors are clearly baffled that diagnosticians, clinicians, and researchers have largely overlooked the clinical implications of the impressive body of literature reviewed in this book.
