Abstract
In this article an infinite system of renewal-type integral equations that arise in age-dependent branching with arbitrary state space is studied, using a modern version of the Fredholm theory in Hilbert space. The results of this article are preparatory to the study of the limiting behavior of solutions to infinite systems of renewal-type integral equations. A detailed outline of the article's contents is given in Section 1.
