Abstract
Questionnaire data are used to examine the personal & professional characteristics of 123 community workers (CWs) providing aftercare services to 62 children & adolescents recently released from a psychiatric inpatient service. CWs rated their professional relationship with the children &/or their families. Family members (ie, caregivers) rated their degree of satisfaction with the CWs. Findings reveal that both family members & CSs viewed positively the work of CWs in both family support & information dissemination. Both groups also agreed that more attention ought to be given to teaching skills for child/adolescent home management. Recommendations for addressing the needs of families & for guaranteeing a child-centered & family-focused system of care are offered. 2 Tables, 26 References. Adapted from the source document.
