We consider the asymptotic analysis of the resonances of high contrast small volume scatterers for linear and nonlinear scalar waves. The resonance problem is formulated as a nonlinear eigenvalue problem. We derive asymptotic formulae for linear scatterers and nonlinear scatterers of the Kerr type. Our results are illustrated with numerical examples. Published by AIP Publishing.
