A measurement of plasma space potential in a minimum-B magnetic field has been made with a particle beam probe. The diagnostic technique is an extension of conventional heavy ion beam probing in that, among other features, the probing beam is neutral rather than ionized cesium and the parallel-plate electrostatic energy analyzer is fully characterized in a new manner which permits its use in complex magnetic confinement geometries.
