Abstract

Clinical Neurology Life Sciences & Biomedicine Neurosciences & Neurology Science & Technology
In January 2006, the German Neurological Society organized an update meeting to discuss current aspects of clinical neurological studies in Germany. The 12(th) Amendment of the German pharmaceutical law that came into effect in August 2004 and its implications for conducting clinical studies were discussed by neurologists, members of ethical committees, the pharmaceutical industry and federal institutions. Overall, the performance of industry-sponsored clinical trials has been facilitated by changes in the German pharmaceutical law, whereas some modifications regarding legal and financial aspects will make future investigator-sponsored trials more difficult. This article summarizes the lectures from this meeting and presents an update on clinical neurological studies in Germany.
