Coordinated, orderless inventory replenishment for a single buyer and multiple buyers through electronic data interchange
International journal of technology management, Vol.7(4-5), p328

Abstract
An analytical model of a proposed orderless system for single supplier and multiple buyers is presented. The model requires that the supplier alone makes all replenishment decisions, without ordering on the part of the customers. The approach is compared with the classical reorder point based system to demonstrate the impact of electronic data interchange (EDI) on certain inventory control situations. EDI-based inventory control can be attractive from economic and other standpoints and consistent with and can be instrumental in moving towards just-in-time inventory management.
