Abstract
Describes a short-term modified therapeutic milieu programme sited in Philadelphia and New Jersey called The Sanctuary, designed for the treatment of trauma-related disorders in adults. The relationship between a trauma-based model and the therapeutic milieu model are explored. The fundamental assumptions that inform the treatment model are outlined, as well as the goals of treatment. (Original abstract)
