Abstract
CRICKET BEHAVIOR AND NEUROBIOLOGY is an exceptionally important book in the field of insect behavior and physiology. The editors claim that the book offers an introduction to cricket behavior, especially acoustic behavior and neurobiology. I believe it does much more than that. This is a remarkably up-to-date reference work on the behavior of crickets (as well as other insects) and its underlying physiological mechanisms. Because the book concerns general principles of behavior, it will be of interest to all workers in the field of behavior and neurobiology. It will be especially important to anyone interested in communicative systems. Surprisingly, 64 genera and 116 species of crickets are mentioned, representing most of the subfamilies of crickets. The book's large and comprehensive list of references will be vitally important.
