Abstract
Currently, the nursing profession is experiencing alarming rates of stress and burnout. It is imperative for nurses to learn strategies to manage their stress and increase resilience and grit, which could potentially mitigate burnout. This mixed-methods study explored the impact of a 10-week online mindfulness course on graduate nursing students' perceived stress, resilience, and grit. Grounded in Shapiro's IAA (Intention, Attention, and Attitude) Model of Mindfulness, the study involved 49 participants who completed pre- and postintervention surveys, including the Perceived Stress Scale, the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, the Grit Scale, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. The results indicated significant increases in mindfulness, resilience, and grit, and a decrease in perceived stress. Qualitative data revealed themes of improved stress management, emotional regulation, and mindful awareness, highlighting the course's potential to reduce burnout among nursing professionals.Currently, the nursing profession is experiencing alarming rates of stress and burnout.
