Abstract
Family intervention science continues to gain attention from clinicians, researchers, and funding agencies. The intention of this article is to acquaint the reader with the design and treatment of the major studies that have defined the current landscape of this research area. The nine disorders that have received the most programmatic research that consists of randomized clinical trials comparing a family treatment to a no-treatment control or an alternative treatment are covered, including schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, anorexia, bulimia, obesity, conduct disorder, at- tention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and substance abuse.
