Abstract
The effect of transformation toughening with ZrO2 and dispersion strengthening with TiN on the phase composition, structure and properties of Al2O3-based ceramics produced from two different grades of industrial powders was studied. The relations between hot-pressing temperature, density and mechanical properties of ceramics with different ZrO2 and Y2O3 contents were established. The TiN addition can increase the strength of ZrO2-Al2O3 composites at room and higher temperatures. Phase compositions and internal stresses were analysed. 11 refs.
