One new genus and ten new species of gomphocerine grasshoppers (Gomphocerinae: Acrididae: Orthoptera) from North America are described, and five species names are synonymized under Syrbula montezuma. The new genus is Chiapacris and the new species are Chiapacris velox, Ch. eximius, Ch. nayaritus, Amphitornus durangus, Boopedon empelios, Phaneroturis tantillus, Psoloessa microptera, Syrbula festina, Bootettix joerni, and Stethophyma celata.
