Abstract
This article explores and discusses the sociocultural dynamics underpinning urban African American youths' use and misuse of substances and its connection to the invisible wounds of race-related trauma. A racially-sensitive framework is discussed as an intervention approach designed to address the special needs of urban Africa American adolescents maligned by, and suffering from, the complex interplay of substance misuse and rage.
