Abstract
The optical properties of [Ti.sub.2]AlN and [Ti.sub.2]AlC are determined by using electron energy loss spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. [Ti.sub.2]AlN is shown to be a better conductor than [Ti.sub.2]AlC in all orientations.
