Abstract
The authors present their case of direct intracranial carotid artery repair in an infant.
An 11-week-old infant with a nondisplaced left-sided parietal fracture sustained in a motor vehicle collision was found to have a traumatic aneurysm of the distal right internal carotid artery.
This was successfully treated with operative direct repair as a favorable alternative to attempted endovascular treatment, which carried the risk of interruption of the anterior choroidal artery.
