Abstract
With the use of 2-dimensional (2-D) echocardiographic criteria, rheumatic tricuspid stenosis (TS) can be detected with reasonable accuracy.
1,2 With the advent of Doppler echocardiography, disturbed flow across stenotic and regurgitant cardiac valves can be identified. Doppler echocardiographic findings in rheumatic TS have been reported in small numbers of patients.
3,4 We describe 13 patients with rheumatic TS who had clear-cut quantitative and qualitative Doppler characteristics distinct from normal subjects and from patients with pure (nonrheumatic) tricuspid regurgitation.
