Abstract
A generalized master equation is derived for a Morse oscillator coupled to a bath of harmonic oscillators. Manipulation involving the Morse oscillator is facilitated by the use of an SU(2) algebra, and calculations related to the harmonic oscillators by using the ladder operators. The temporal evolution equations for the density matrix elements are also presented and their differences from the corresponding harmonic oscillator case pointed out.
