Engineers Like to Write - On a Computer
IEEE transactions on professional communication, v PC26(4)

Abstract
In 5 to 10 years, engineers will be able to write their reports very easily using sophisticated word processing equipment. Interviews with several engineers who already use word processing indicate that even present-day technology in word processing greatly enhances writing ability. Word processing software can make writing easier to revise and add to the clarity of the message. Computers offer engineers many advantages that make the process of composition more efficient. Because most engineers are familiar with keyboards and terminals, they can quickly master a few new commands for word processing. Using the computer for writing affects the way engineers think about their writing. They become more willing to follow the pattern of professional writers and are better able to visualize the document and the relationship of its parts.
