Abstract

Medical diagnosis Medical disorders Physical examinations
When patients complain of persistent or chronic cough, physicians should think of the common etiologies and treat empirically, but not ignore the possibility of more serious causes. A review of the patient's history and a physical examination can help pinpoint the cause of a cough that has lasted longer than 8 weeks.
