Abstract

Life Sciences & Biomedicine Rehabilitation Science & Technology
To meet the growing need to support adolescent mental wellness, professionals have been tasked with increasing the implementation and accessibility of mental health care for this population. A narrative review was conducted to describe evidence-based interventions that occupational therapists and psychologists can use collaboratively with adolescents to promote their mental health. Thirteen research articles met the inclusion criteria for an in-depth review. Three primary categories of intervention were appraised in this review, including sensory-based interventions, activity-based interventions, and general mental health-promotion interventions. Through interprofessional collaboration, occupational therapists and psychologists could significantly improve adolescent utilization of mental health support.
