Gluten Sensitivity and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux
Journal of singing, v 81(1), pp 65-68

Abstract
Gluten is a protein that binds food together and allows foods such as dough to be stretched without ripping apart. It is found in grains such as wheat, rye and barley; but it also is used as a binder in some medications. Gluten intolerance is well-known in people with celiac disease, but non-celiac gluten sensitivity also is common. Gluten sensitivity can mimic or aggravate laryngopharyngeal reflux. Gluten sensitivity should be considered, especially in people with reflux that do not respond well to the usual reflux treatments.
