The Journal of academic librarianship, Vol.36(2)

Abstract
Metrics are designed to be purposeful measurements for managing improvement, for making professional services and organizations not only more effective but also more satisfying to library professionals. In this light, librarians should approach metrics not simply as a required exercise in slogging through figures but as a potential source of joyful professional activity. Here, Nitecki examines five characteristics of joy that describe the use of metrics.
