Abstract
In recent years, the otolaryngologic community has shown appropriately increasing interest in the special problems of professional singers. Because most of our residency programs still lack training in sophisticated evaluation and treatment of subtle problems of professional voice users, many otolaryngologists depend for guidance on literature and on courses such as the Annual Symposium on the Care of the Professional Voice held at Juilliard. Extensive historical background is necessary for thorough evaluation of the singing voice, 1 and the otolaryngologist who see singers only occasionally cannot reasonably be expected to remember all the pertinent questions. Although some laryngologists feel that a lengthy history taking session is helpful with professional singers, many of us who see a substantial number of singers per day within a busy practice need a thorough but less time consuming alternative.
