Limiting density behavior of quartz powders
Powder technology, v 3(1), pp 208-212

Abstract
An experimental study into the effects of varying particle characteristics on maximum and minimum bulk densities of dry quartz powders is presented. The characteristics which were varied are particle size, particle size distribution (or gradation), and particle shape.
It is found that both maximum and minimum densities increase with increasing size, gradation and sphericity. Furthermore, the difference between these limiting densities is quite constant. An empirical formula for the maximum density of such powders is proposed.
