The mechanical loading conditions associated with normal and pathological mechanotransduction and cellular injury were investigated with an emphasis on the loading rate dependence of the cellular responses. Shear stress magnitudes were applied for one minute. The calcium responses and cholesterol enrichment of the cells were determined.
