Mapping authors in intellectual space: Population genetics in the 1980s
Communication research, v 16(5), pp 667-681
01 Oct 1989
Abstract
Multidimensional scaling (MDS) and clustering analysis of the co-citation patterns of authors are used to examine the intellectual organization of population genetics. Author placement and cluster assignment may represent institutional affiliations and national research efforts, and co-cited author mapping is likely to complement studies of informal communication networks.
