Abstract
Combining processing parameters, fibrous structure geometry and material properties, a theoretical study was carried out and validated by experiment measurements in order to predict the mechanical elastic properties of needled nonwoven composites. In order to establish the fiber orientation distribution of the needled structure, the fiber volume fraction in the Z direction V sub Fz was first orientation distribution established by the morphological study, the mechanical elastic properties of the 3D composite were predicted with the fabric geometry model for needled nonwoven composites (FGM-NNC). The FGM-NNC is a homogenization model characterized by generalized Hooke's law for isostrain and isostress computation. The FGM-NNC results reflect the textile structures variations as well as the materials properties behavior.
