Abstract
A procedure for near field microwave imaging of biological tissues is presented. A two-port microstrip test fixture mounted on a 2D translation stage is employed to capture the transmission images of 1 mm thick slices of rat brain. Spatial resolution and contrast of such images are discussed in terms of insertion loss and extracted tissue permittivity.
