Neuroretinitis secondary to toxoplasmosis in a 17 year old immunocompetent man

Abstract
A 17 year old young man was referred for evaluation of acute, unilateral loss of vision. The dilated fundus examination revealed diffuse retinal edema and disc swelling without vitritis. The constellation of fundus findings were consistent with the diagnosis of neuroretinitis warranting further work-up. Laboratory testing revealed the etiology to be toxoplasmosis.
