Nondestructive evaluation of geomembrane seams: Methods in development
Geotextiles and geomembranes, v 9(4), pp 431-443
1990
Abstract
A set of eight different nondestructive evaluation methods for the assessment of geomembrane field seams is presented in this paper. The methods vary from ‘occasionally used’ to ‘still in early development’ stages. They are meant not to replace, nor eliminate, the vacuum box and pressurized dual seam methods but rather to augment and complement them.
A brief description of each method is presented along with schematic sketches of the technical concept upon which they are based. A summary table listing each method with regard to its current status, deployment, implementation, cost, speed of recovery and possibility of ‘hard copy printout’ is also included.
