Abstract

Elderly Health Somalia Well Being
Fieldwork data gathered in south central Somalia indicate that while the health of older people in the region is apparently improving as a result of development schemes, their well-being may actually be declining. High fertility, reduction in infant mortality, demands of younger males for land & animals, & economic & political goals of the central government are all challenging older males' control of the region's resources. If this control diminishes, the elderly could become more dependent on the younger generation just when younger people are being pressured to utilize resources for national objectives. 15 References.
