Abstract
Building a pediatric acute pain and regional anesthesia service is akin to stacking building blocks as a child – a process grounded in understanding prior attempts, learning from missteps, and carefully placing each foundational piece to construct a stronger, more resilient structure. Each block represents a critical step: identifying clinical needs, establishing multidisciplinary support, assembling a dedicated team, developing standardized protocols, and implementing outcomes monitoring. Some blocks may shift or require repositioning, offering insights for refinement, while others fit seamlessly, allowing the structure to rise. With deliberate planning, precise execution, and continuous reinforcement, we can construct a service that enhances safety and efficacy and transforms the perioperative experience for children.
