Abstract
Why are we all familiar with ridiculous lies? How can it be that seemingly everyone knows about their claims and actually questions their validity? It is due in part to the communication approach and all-around megamachine exploiter, that is, Donald Trump. Trump adroitly holds the public attention and permeates messages through our national discourse regardless of the content. Trump offers a stickiness, which is due in part to his use of language and media technologies. But how? At first glance, Trump appears to be a new type of politician, but it is not the case that heis doing something novel in his approach to communication. In fact, political and social scholars, in particular Alfred Korzybski, have been theorizing about these types of politicians for years.
