Periodic Orbits in Three Body Gravitational Chaotic Scattering
Bulletin of the American Physical Society, Vol.49(1)
01 Mar 2004
Abstract
The three body problem is a classic problem which has been studied for centuries, beginning with Isaac Newton. Newton was unable to solve this problem. Later, the problem was determined by Poincare to be unsolveable analytically, due to its chaotic nature. This poster presents the results of research on gravitational three body chaotic scattering. Specifically, we focused on the unstable periodic orbits of the gravitational three body problem and their relation to ``long-lived''resonant three body interactions.
