Abstract
Studies are reported on the mode of action of chlorine on micro-organisms and the physiological changes produced in vegetative cells by chlorination. The test organisms used were Esch. coli , Candida parapsilosis, and Mycobacterium fortuitum, representing the coliform bacteria, yeasts, and acid-fast bacteria respectively.
