Abstract
D2 lymph node dissection has become the surgical standard for locally advanced gastric cancer worldwide. Common complications during surgery include perigastric vascular injury, spleen injury, common bile duct injury, pancreatic injury, and lymphatic vessel injury. Common postoperative complications include bleeding, lymphatic leakage, anastomotic leakage, and gastric emptying disorder. The surgeon's annual surgical volume is a determining factor affecting surgical complications and mortality. The learning curve for standard radical lymph node dissection for gastric cancer is generally 50 cases. Skilled surgical techniques and rich knowledge of live anatomy are prerequisites for accurate and safe D2 lymph node dissection.
