Abstract
[from introduction] Many of us have a layman's understanding of spasticity as being stiff and tight, but the clinical definition is much more complicated. We hear the terms low tone, high tone, dystonia, hypertonia, rigidity, spasticity, mixed tone, altered tone. Many parents use the terms inaccurately or interchangeably. Without a doubt, it is confusing. Some of us may want to understand the clinical differences and some of us may not. What we DO want is help for our children.
