Retirees as Technoguide: A New Role as Shapers and Makers of the Future
Journal of sociology and social welfare, Vol.13(2)
01 Jun 1986
Abstract
A discussion of the role of retirees as technoguides -- paid or voluntary aides in the testing, evaluating, & adapting of new products & services to the needs of US elderly. The involvement of the elderly with modern technology is assessed & potential applications for new technologies in retirement living are surveyed. Limitations & problems facing the elderly in utilizing new technologies are evaluated. As technoguides, older persons could draw on decades of hard-earned insights to help evaluate new technologies, & they could provide invaluable feedback on innovations for seniors & society-at-large.
