Revision of the Grasshopper Tribe Orphulellini (Gomphocerinae: Acrididae)
Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Vol.131(NOV)
01 Jan 1979
Abstract
The Orphulellini is a new tribe restricted to the New World. It includes the genera Orphulella, Orphulina, Dichromorpha, and Laplatacris. Seven new species of Orphulella are described: O. fluvialis, O. gemma and O. timida from South America, O. pernix from Costa Rica, O. quiroga from Mexico, and O. trypha and O. nesicos from the Caribbean. The type species of the genera Parachloebata, Isonyx and Orphulella are considered to be congeneric; therefore the first two names are designated as junior synonyms of Orphulella. Clinocephalus is, for the same reasons, a junior synonym of Dichromorpha. Twenty-five species names are designated as new synonyms.
